SHERINGHAM LITTLE THEATRE
15TH - 19TH OCTOBER 2019
Music by Denis King; Lyrics by Mary Stewart-David;
Book by Richard Harris (based on the original play by Richard Harris).
Following the success of the play Stepping Out, (which we presented also at the Little Theatre back in 2004) Richard Harris has combined the talents of lyricist Mary Stewart-David and composer Denis King to create a heart-warming, toe-tapping new musical following the familiar story of the lives, loves and laughs of a group of women (and one man) attending a weekly tap class in a dingy church hall.
The original play enjoyed a hugely successful West End run and won Evening Standard Best Comedy Award for 1984. As the play progresses, the class's dancing improves to such an extent that by the climax, a grand charity show performance, they have been transformed into triumphant tappers, worthy of any chorus line. The musical version lifts the story to a new dimension.
We are thrilled to welcome back Jackie Overton to the Director's chair. Jackie is one of our longest serving members and is certainly no stranger to directing for us in Sheringham and we know our audiences are in for a treat!
